June 24 ADN Published: Dale Van Doren, who hoped to build a hotel in Denali State Park, lost his bid to
get the Matanuska-Susitna Borough to reconsider the project. The borough's board of adjustments and
appeals voted unanimously Monday to uphold that decision.
June 25 Notification of liquor license application by JTF Investments of Alaska for Trapper Jack’s Pub
and Grub.
July 3 AK Department of Commerce. Notice of Adoption of Emergency Regulations dealing with planning
needs of communities threatened by climatechange-related impacts. Comments by August 15.
July 14&28 Fran Seager-Boss working to designate the Matanuska-Susitna Borough as a National
Heritage Area. Meeting planned in mid-August to discuss improvements for the valley (trailheads,
interpretive signs…).
July 7 Mat-Su Borough Community Development. Amendment for fiscal year 2005 Tourism
Infrastructure grant. The project completion date has been extended to December 31, 2008.
July 17 State of Alaska Department of Natural Resources. Notice offering land along the southern flanks
of Mount Spur for geothermal leasing by competitive sealed bid. Begins September 3.
July 17 Staff to Senator Charlie Huggins. Senator Huggins has established an Energy Roundtable
Discussion Group consisting of the presidents of the community councils in his district (or their
designees), senior center leadership, and several constituents. TKA is invited to attend the meeting on
the evening of August 11 from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the Wasilla Legislative Information Office to hear
presentations on public transit by representatives from the Borough, DOT, MASCOT, and, hopefully, the
Alaska Railroad.
July 21 Project Code Red announces that the State of Alaska has appropriated funds for 12 fire
suppressant units and is soliciting applications. Message left at Talkeetna Fire Hall.
July 31 AK Regulatory Commission. Notice MEA has filed an amendment to modify the Agreement for
the Sale and Purchase of Electric Power and Energy by Chugach Electric Assoc.
August 4 Sue Deyoe News @ KTNA Talkeetna: Assembly will be meeting in Talkeetna on September
2nd as the Boy Scouts are making a presentation on their access to the camp at Blair Lake.
