Su Valley Hockey Takes Home Ice Jan. 15

TALKEETNA — Coach Jack MacDonald and the Su Valley Hockey Team are looking
forward to taking the home ice against Monroe Catholic High School of Fairbanks when the
Rams play them at the Talkeetna rink Jan. 15 & 16.
The Rams are 2-6 this season, an improvement over last year’s one-win season and a sign of
the team’s development. MacDonald said he expects more wins, as the games have been
close, one recent match a loss of 3-2 in overtime.
The team was also missing Corey Ambrose, a strong player who couldn’t go on the recent
Delta Junction-Tok odyssey.
Monroe is the only team the Rams beat last season, and MacDonald said he hears that team
has improved. MacDonald hopes to host Monroe athletes at the new Su Valley campus.
Talkeetna’s league is among the last to play outdoors, and MacDonald recently cautioned his
team to “absorb the moment, look around, take it all in,” even if the “moment” is a long, 0-to-
5-degree bus trip to Tok.

Crowley Invitational Basketball Tourney Feb. 11
SUNSHINE — The First Annual Crowley Classic Invitational Basketball Tournament will
take place Feb. 11, 12 and 13 in the new Su Valley Jr./Sr. High gym, Principal Rob Picou said.
School will start at the new campus in January, with home basketball games Jan. 12, Jan. 25
and Feb.2.
Picou said the school also plans to welcome the community with a 1950s-60s style dance,
open house and potluck on Jan. 17.
Ski Club Meets in Trapper Creek
TRAPPER CREEK — There will be a Trapper Creek Nordic Ski Club meeting at 7 p.m.,
Wednesday Dec. 16, at Northland Inn, Milepost 0.8 of Petersville Road. All skiers are
