John R. Moses is a veteran journalist. Gale Armstrong Moses is an expert in marketing and advertising sales who has just finished a long-term substitute teaching job at Su Valley Jr./Sr. High School. We moved to Talkeetna, Alaska in 2006 to buy and run her mother's bed and breakfast in Talkeetna. We believe that local news is vital to any community, and is especially vital in rural Alaska. Many sources of news exist but they don't offer both the speed of the Internet and local news content. We will have a monthly print edition with more extensive local news, sports, photos and columnists. It is also our goal to build a full community calendar and offer local houses of worship a place to tell about their upcoming programs and sermons. A basketball or hockey game played today can be covered here, with photos, the same night or soon after. Same for a council meeting. You might miss a newspaper's deadline to get a club meeting date to your members and friends. The out-of-town papers might not even bother to run your notice, or lose it in the spam-filled inbox. Local news is our priority. Nothing can or ever should take the place of our community's crown jewel, KTNA, or the state and world news you get from the daily papers. We believe this site and our print newspaper will be informative, fun and useful. Please send us your ideas -- what you'd like to see here. Join us in this adventure and help this site turn into a lively online community. Send in your announcements, birth notices and the other things that make Talkeetna, Willow, Trapper Creek, Caswell, Sunshine and Houston the places we call home. E-mail us at editor@akpioneerpress.com
