Free Guitar Workshop
Czar of Guitars, 101 East Arctic Ave. in downtown Palmer, presents an encore performance
of "It's All About Tone" -- a free workshop with guitarist Jim Beck on Sunday, April 19, from
1:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.
Jim Beck a self described "Pedal Geek" and guitar effects pedal builder will discuss guitar
effects pedals - what they do and don't do.  Jim will address differences in overdrive, fuzz,
metal, and distortion pedals. He will also discuss and demo modulation pedals – chorus,
tremolo, vibe, and delays.  A question and answer session will follow.
Jim Beck has played guitar for over 30 years. He grew up with the glorious music of the 60s
and 70s, and gravitated to blues, rock and its derivatives. His chief interest is tone – big, fat
glorious tone, coming from a great old tube amp, and the “right” pedals. Jim played guitar
with the Slydeways Shelter Band and Sport 'N Woodies for many years. Jim continues to
maintain several guitars, along with volumes of trivial guitar effects pedal knowledge and a
fine sense of humor.
